Lindsee received her bachelor's degree from the University of Kansas in Gender Studies and American Studies, which she used in her work as an advocate for families affected by domestic violence. Lindsee worked in the movement against domestic and sexual violence for five years in both Kansas and Alaska.

After working for the Alaska state coalition against violence, Lindsee returned home to Kansas to attend Washburn University School of Law. While at Washburn, Lindsee also received her Master's in Social Work. At the Law school, Lindsee was a Senior Student Editor for the Family Law Quarterly and president of the Women's Legal Forum.

For her work in the Washburn Law Clinic, Lindsee was awarded the Kansas Association for Justice's Raymond Spring Award for her commitment to providing legal services to clients in need. Lindsee was also awarded third place in the American Bar Association Section of Family Law's Howard C. Schwab Memorial Essay Contest for her essay entitled, "Overturning In re Gardiner: Ending Transgender Discrimination in Kansas."
